3 Objective of MoU to be addressed
Analysing of the
suitable models and indices for assessing the impact of climate change
and variability. Defining the risk for European agriculture
4 Contribution:
Chairman of WG 1
The
new COST 734 - "Impact of Climate Change and Variability on European
Agriculture: CLIVAGRI" is a very important activity for coordination of
methods and comparison of results in the field of climate change impact
research on agriculture in Europe. Based on the research activities in
this field at our Institution we will contribute especially to WG 1 and
WG 4 regarding evaluation and comparison of modelling tools and
evaluation of climate change impacts on the selected crops in the
different regions.
5 Deliverables:
Reporting on WG 1 activities and results
contrubutions to the other WPs
6 Resources:
1 hour per week (Josef Eitzinger)
7 Assurance:
The necessary resources to perform the task will be available.
8 Foreseen national collaboration:
Austrian Weather Service (ZAMG)
Wegener Center, Graz
Austrian Hail Insurance, Vienna
Institutes of University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences (BOKU)
9 Pervious experience:
The
Institute of Meteorology (BOKU-Met) at BOKU (Universitaet fuer
Bodenkultur, University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences)
is a part of the Department of Water, Atmosphere and Environment.
BOKU-Met
is active in the fields of environmental meteorology and climate change
research, agricultural meteorology, atmospheric radiation, and
small-scale boundary-layer climatolology. Activities include numerical
modelling as well as field measurements. BOKU-Met has ample experience
in EU-Framework projects (including as coordinator) such as – related
to COST734 topics - CECILIA, ADAGIO as well as national projects.
Josef Eitzinger was also a member of COST Action 718.
