Orlandini is a associate professor of Department of Agronomy and Land
Management of the University
of Florence
He is graduated in Agricultural Sciences and PhD in Agrometeorology with a thesis concerning the application of agrometeorological models for the control of grapevine diseases.
He carries out teaching activity in Computer Science, Agrometeorology and Agroclimatology at the University of Florence.
He is presently Director of the Interdepartmental Centre for Bioclimatology of the University of Florence.
He is Accademico Corrispondente of the Accademia dei Georgofili di Firenze.
He is the editor of the Italian Jopurnal of Agrometeorology.
He was the proposer of the new COST Action 734 CLIVAGRI (Climate change impact on agriculture) and presently he is the chair of the Action.
He takes part of several national and international projects and he is the author of more than 200 scientific, technical and didactic papers.
Since the beginning of his activity, he has worked on the promotion and development of agroclimatological applications, with special care to the possibility of formulating simulation models and applying geographical information systems for agroclimatological classifications. He also worked on the analysis of agroclimatological data using indices and models to evaluate possible impact of climate change and variability.
